Visa Information

Upon entering Chile, visitors receive a tourist card, valid for 90 days. Don't lose it: you will need it to leave the country. The easiest way to get a new card is to simply leave the country and come back. Official renewals last only 30 days and cost US$100 (for information on where to go to renew your tourist card, or what to do if it is lost, please see the Important Addresses section of the Travel Details page). In general, you should always carry identification with you in Chile.

Nationalities Requiring Advance Visas

Nationals of the countries listed below must secure a visa before arriving in Chile.

In order to request a visa, applicants should present the following documents:

Letter of employment, stating the reason of the trip to Chile
Copy of Certificate from Chamber of Commerce or any related documents
Updated bank statement at least 3 months
Invitation letter from Chile
Copy of the returning ticket
1 photograph
Completed application form
Passport (valid for at least 6 months following arrival in Chile)
Visa fee payable in US Dollars

In the case of those countries marked with an asterisk (*), the Chilean Ministry of Foreign Affairs will process the visa, which means that applicants may need to wait for up to 3 weeks.

For visitors arriving from Thailand, applications can be submitted Monday to Thursday between 8.30 and 12.00.
